President-Elect Hakainde Hichilema Reacts to Election Victory, Thanks Zambians
President-elect Hakainde Hichilema has thanked Zambians for entrusting him with another five-year mandate following his victory in the 2026 General Elections.
In his post-election message, Hichilema described the outcome as a reflection of Zambia’s commitment to democracy, peace and unity, while acknowledging citizens who supported other candidates.
He said the campaign allowed him and his team to visit all 116 districts and witness first-hand the challenges facing communities across the country.
Hichilema also pledged to focus his next term on development, cooperation and improving the lives of Zambians across the country.
“Thank you, Zambia!
We are truly humbled by the trust you have placed in our hands, to hold our nation’s highest office and to be your servant, once more.
This election showed the world who we are: a nation of peace, a nation of law and order, a democratic nation that settles our differences at the ballot box, and nowhere else.”
He further acknowledged voters who chose opposition parties, saying their concerns would also be taken into consideration as his administration continues its work.
“To those citizens who preferred the ideas presented by our opponents, we hear you, and we will continue to work for you to ensure that every Zambian benefits from the development we are delivering.”
The President-elect said his administration would now turn its attention toward delivering development and progress while strengthening national unity.
“Now we must work harder than ever before to deliver meaningful development for every single Zambian, in every corner of our country.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to peace, prosperity and national unity, saying Zambia must continue moving forward as “One Zambia, One Nation, One people.”
